Trust me, I wouldn’t have started my blog if it involved too much technical skill set.

Step 1: Bluehost

Firstly, click here to start your own blog on WordPress.

Bluehost is a very well trusted hosting server that also enables you to use WordPress (WordPress is free with Bluehost). I personally use Bluehost, and it has never failed on me. They are cheap, have fast connection, reliable, and you’ll have all the help you need – they have 24/7 support. By Signing up to Bluehost, you also get a free domain name. I highly recommend you use Bluehost to host your website.

You can start as low as $3.49 per month if you choose a 36 months subscription (this is the bang for buck deal), and by starting with this subscription you also get a free domain name as well. I highly recommend you start off with this package and also lock in a domain name so no one else can use this. It’s very affordable!

Or if you are unsure, you can always select 12 months subscription (price per month increases for 12 months subscription) to see how well you progress with your blog within one year.

I strongly recommend that you start off with “Basic” Plan – it has every essential tools you need to create your first blogging website.

Click on the Basic Plan to proceed.

Tip: I know you may be thinking “I can get start for free using other blogger website”. If you are thinking of blogging seriously, stay away from these free blogging websites. First of all, without hosting it properly, you don’t actually OWN the website. They can shut it down immediately if they want to. Secondly, it’s very limited in terms of functionality. Thirdly, without the proper domain name, audience will think your “cheap”. You want to look professional. Lastly, as you progress further down the line, you may want to re-design your website, add in more functionality, and add in customise your blog. This will impossible with free hosting blogging websites, and you don’t want to go through all the stress and frustration importing it back into a better platform (that’s if they let you!)

Step 2: Domain Name

Once you have registered with Bluehost, they will ask you if you would like to register a new domain name, or register with the existing domain name you already have.

Typically, domain name should reflect what your blog will be. By creating it this way, it’s also SEO friendly. I chose my domain name as, as my majority of my blog website is about investing time into making that perfect blog.

After you have chosen your domain name, you will be asked to fill in your account details, and payment options. Also, make sure you set a password that only you can remember.

There will be additional options you can tick if you want more in your package. You don’t need any of those if you are a first time blogger. They sound cheap (like $0.99 per month, $1.99 per month), but trust me, it adds up quite a lot – especially if you are only paying either $3.95 or $5.95 per month. You can click on “More information” to find out more. I only signed up to “Domain Privacy Protection”, but after doing some research, a lot of people said you don’t really need it.

Let me know in the comment section below on which domain name you have chosen!

Step 3: Install WordPress

Now that you have successfully created your own domain, and using Bluehost as your web host, it’s time to install WordPress. This part is extremely easy.

WordPress is the most used platform when it comes to blogging. It has so many features, plugins, and most importantly it’s really easy to use as well.

Go to your Blue Host main page (screen caption below).

Click on “cpanel” at the top (screen below).

Click on “Install WordPress”

Click on the “Install” button. Another option will come up, from the drop down menu select the domain you want to install WordPress on (select the domain name you just created, if not there then type in your domain name in that field).

You will be greeted with “Last step, you are almost there!” page. This is where you put in title for your website, admin user name and admin password.

After you have done that, click on all the necessary boxes and click “Install Now”.

It should take around 1~2 minutes to install WordPress. Don’t close the page until the installation of WordPress is complete.

You will receive an email with your login and password details.

Congratulations, you now have successfully installed WordPress blog! Now it’s time to put in your creative thinking into works and design your website and create your first blog!
